Global Family Rescue now Kuza Project has been working with a women’s business association in Lupembe for the last three years. As the women have continued to grow and reach out to others in the community, and have proven successful in their enterprises, we have steadily increased our investments. Today this association runs a tailoring business, small retail store, and microcredit project that is providing a sustainable livelihood for 30 women in this remote village.

The next step in our investment here has been huge. We bought these women three impregnated dairy cows. The first calf was born this week. Each of these cows should produce an average of 15 liters of milk per day, and will reproduce an average of one time per year. The five year payback on this is enormous as we anticipate this initial round of cows to eventually produce over 30 cows that will be producing more than 400 liters of milk per day. While some of the milk will be consumed by the women and their families the economic value of this milk could reach over $100 per day. That works out to just about $5 per day in income for each of these women. In an area where the average person makes less than $1.25 per day, this is a very large income!

We look forward to continuing to share the success of these women with you. Lives are being changed and families are being transformed and we simply could not do it without your support. Thank you!
