One of the most exciting things that we get to see happen is watching families go through our assistance program and set out on their own. These families would never have been able to provide for their own needs without our support. As we provide them with financial assistance to get on their feet, we’re also providing them with the opportunities they need to succeed long-term. Whether it’s a roof over their heads or a potential source of income for their family with a cow, these families are in desperate need of help. You can imagine the joy we feel when we see them transition out of regular assistance in the program and begin to strike out on their own. Watching these families come full-circle to providing for their own needs is incredibly rewarding and a reminder of why we do what we do: We’re changing the lives and trajectory of these families forever.
What’s equally exciting is that as these families move into self-sufficiency we get to invite new families into the program and watch the process all over again. New faces, new lives, and new possibilities are imagined for all the beautiful people that we serve. This part of our program is about sharing the love of Jesus with these families: serving them, supporting them, and then sending them out to do the same. The impact that we have will be felt for many more generations because these families are not only creating a livelihood, they are learning from your generosity. You are modeling for them what it means to be a follower of Jesus and we will see them reproduce this generosity in their own community. It is not just about the financial support that you provide for a family, it’s about creating a culture of generosity that can be repeated over and over throughout Africa. This is what we want to be about!
